PROGRAMME A series of presentations to address the new frameworks, with small group discussion. The presentations provide an oversight of the current position, offer case studies, where relevant, and look at the changes and the challenges. The speakers are all members of SEECs Governing Council, representatives of their organisation in the use of credit, and will be presenting from the position of their academic expertise as well as speaking from a SEEC perspective. Dorothy Haslehurst: SEEC Chair for the past three years, and Associate Dean (Academic) of the School of Education and Continuing Studies, University of Portsmouth. Dorothys work covers the full range of subjects and relates to the use of credit for qualifications through work based learning. Professor Bob Johnson: Author of significant publications related to the use of academic credit over a number of years, including the Johnson Report (2004) as cited in the final Burgess Report (ref), Bob is also the Commissioner for Credit Rating for the European Council of Business Education (ecbe.eu) and an expert in the Bologna process. Anita Walsh: Director of the Centre for Learning and Professional Development, and Lecturer in Work-Based Learning School of Continuing Education, Birkbeck College, University of London, Anitas research focuses on the academic recognition of high level learning which takes place outside the institution. Mark Atlay: Director of the CETL (Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Learning) at the( University of Bedfordshire, and SEEC s Deputy Chair. Mark s role is to lead CETL and co-coordinate its work in relation to the University s Education Strategy, especially involving student assessment and recording, and personal development planning. Marian Redding: Head of Modular programmes, Anglia Ruskin University, and Chair of the range of committees related to external accreditation as part of the universitys Business strategy, Marian leads the quality assurance process foraccreditation withexternal companies.
