APEL Network Meetings

Recent Discussions

A recent discussion issue has been the risk of “doublecounting” of credit through APL, and experienced practitioners’ guidance on the reuse of credit has been invaluable. Once copyright clearances have been obtained, it is planned to include links from this page to member institutions’ guidance.

It has been noted that QAA have found very little evidence of APEL being used in Foundation Degrees, with the suggestion that structures might be the limiting factor, and lack of confidence in programme designers about how to deal with APL and APEL.

The second consultation from the Burgess group, about degree classification in higher education, had highlighted the need to consider how APEL may be handled in the Diploma Supplement.
