Working with Employers: Co-developing or accrediting skills-based programmes

This NUCCAT event will take place on Monday 18th June

Working with Employers: Co-developing or accrediting skills-based programmes

Time: 10.15am-3.15pm

Venue: Sheffield Hallam University

Seminar aims:

As UK HEIs face the prospect of an increasingly diverse and crowded marketplace, the need to develop new collaborations and revenue streams is high on everyone s agenda. Many business organisations have invested substantially in training to service their employment needs but there is also an increasing appetite among both employers and employees for academic qualifications that embody higher-level skills and an increased emphasis on  graduateness . Higher education institutions have engaged directly with employers, either to co-develop new programmes of study or accredit employers  own training programmes.

However, both approaches require a level of understanding of HE curriculum design, approaches to assessment and programme approval and quality monitoring processes which many employers naturally lack. This seminar will feature case studies of different types of employer engagement in programme development and accreditation and provide an opportunity for participants to discuss issues and share practice. We shall also be joined by a representative of the Quality Assurance Agency s Employer Based Training Accreditation (EBTA) service which has facilitated the development of several accreditation arrangements between HEIs and both small and large employers.

Booking details:

£70 for staff of NUCCAT (and SEEC) Member Institutions
